Scientists have found that the human brain is washed during sleep through a study on 13 subjects. According to the research, blood flows out of the brain during sleep, while the cerebrospinal fluid washes the brain.
A team led by Laura Lewis, who is working at Boston University, made an interesting scientific discovery. The team, which has been working on the human brain for a while, has discovered that when people sleep, their brains are washed with cerebrospinal fluid. So your brain is completely washed through rhythmic and breakthrough waves while you sleep.
According to previous studies, Lewis says that they already know that neurons in the brain have electrical wave activities, but that they have discovered that there are also waves in the cerebrospinal fluid. Scientists have illustrated the phases of the brain during sleep so that the research can be done, and the images we will share with you shortly reveal how this washing process will be.
According to the data obtained in the research, after the people sleep, the brain neurons do not function, and the blood flows out of the brain. It is precisely at this time that the cerebrospinal fluid comes into play and washes the brain from beginning to end. Laura Lewis states that the findings from the research are very important because she hopes that these findings may lead to new discoveries.
Lewis’ hopes are about psychological and neurological discoveries. Because brain waves can combine with blood flow and cerebrospinal fluid, especially for the investigation of age-related normal impairments. The reason for this is that as people age, their brains produce less and slower waves. So this research could both open a new door and be a glimmer of hope, especially for the treatment of alzheimer’s disease.
Lewis made this important discovery with 13 people aged between 23 and 33. Considering getting help from the subjects at older ages in the ongoing processes of his research, Lewis states that they can understand how the movement in the brains of people who are older is going to be. Lewis says that so they can make a new discovery about alzheimer’s.... Dreampedia
1- When we are confronted by madness in a dream, we are often meeting those parts of ourselves that have not been integrated within our present situation. We are facing a part of ourselves that is out of control and which, under certain circumstances, can be frightening.

A magical water spirit who has much in common with the spirits of the forest, but who lures young men into the depths, where they drown.
The dreamer will recognize in the mermaid his desire for and fear of the feminine. Also addressed is a man s desire to identify with femininity and his fear of doing so.
The water spirit mermaid is enticing men to follow her into her kingdom, where, “under a glittering surface, are hidden inexplorable depths,” according to C. G. Jung, who saw the realm of the water spirits as a symbol of the unconscious. So the mermaid is a symbol of life and inner maturity, a spirit who “walks” along boundaries. Young men dream about mermaids when they reach manhood; young girls, when they become women. In another sense, the mermaid is without a soul and therefore is after the soul of humans. According to Jung, the water spirit is at the instinctual stage, the pre-stage of the feminine being, or anima.
Also, the mermaid is a being in need of liberation: since she lives in water, she is drowning in her emotions—and she has no sexual organs.
Male water spirits seldom appear in dreams.

(4) It may also, for a man, express fears of being ‘drowned’ by the feminine or by the unconscious. See also Seduction, and Introduction, page 49.... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols
The mermaid is a mythological creature with the torso of a woman and the lower half of a fish. In this way, she is an archetypal figure that embodies the feminine principle coupled with the capacity to connect to the unconscious mind and the emotional realms. In modern media, the mermaid has been transformed into something lovely and beguiling; however, her origins are dark and are associated with peril, death, and seduction.
A dream that features a mermaid should be considered aspirational, and you must keep in mind all of her qualities, light and dark, when formulating an interpretation. In any case, such a dream is connecting you to the spiritual side of your nature.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Psychological / emotional perspective: Mermaids and mermen are feminine and masculine representations of the link between the darker forces – which we do not necessarily understand – and the conscious self. In dreams the mermaid epitomizes how difficult it is to integrate the two sides of our nature. This lack of integration can result in capriciousness.
The merman, however, is said to be less ‘intrigued’ by humans so, therefore, represents unification, but in a way that is more isolated.... Dream Meanings of Versatile

A mermaid or merman is a double symbol of our instinctual life because (1) a merperson is half animal, and (2) a merperson is at home in the water, a potent symbol of the unconscious. The sea temptress combines beauty with vanity and lures sailors to their doom.
If you are a man and you dream of mermaids and sirens, this may represent the image of a woman who you feel you could love, but who may also reject and destroy you. To dream that you follow her siren song suggests shallow will-power, or being easily misled by lust and base passion. So potent is this myth that the word siren is today used to describe a heartless, treacherous but irresistibly seductive woman. Alternatively, the mermaid may represent your anima, the feminine part of your personality, who, by leading you out to sea, is encouraging you to explore the depths of your own emotions.
Traditionally, the mermaid or merman belongs to the sea as well as the land and this symbolizes an ability to be deeply emotional and deeply practical at the same time.
In a woman’s dream, the mermaid is thought to represent a love rival. Finally, mermaids and mermen are feminine and masculine images of the link between your conscious self and darker forces you may not understand. Sleep is a state of consciousness that is below the waking state. To be sleeping or to dream of someone being asleep in a dream first and foremost relates to the way in which consciousness is experienced in layers. This is not dissimilar to the notion of a dream within a dream, but it also connects to the idea of “being asleep” as a synonym of being less than consciously aware of things. Where are you missing key things about your life because you are asleep to the awareness you could be having? If someone is sleeping in your dream, there is a part of you that needs to be woken up.
If it is you who is asleep, the same applies, only in a more general way—it’s time to wake up to more awareness or action.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams
