anger

The meaning of Anger in dream | Dream interpretation

In a dream scenario, anger may express the tension between your conscious and unconscious urges. The aggressor in the dream will often represent the part of you that is demanding to be acknowledged. Freud spoke of an aggressive drive which he believed revealed itself in all walks of life and in all types of people.

He believed that the aggressive drive was just as much present in sex as in war.

Alfred Adler (1870-1937), an early disciple of Freud, believed that anger was the most fundamental force of the psyche and, if repressed, it could express itself in dream images of anger and aggression. Whatever may be the trigger, anger is one of the most common emotions to express itself in dreams, either by physical violence or by using symbols of anger such as weapons. Such dreams are likely to continue until the trigger for your anger is discovered and dealt with.

If a person has recurring dreams in which they are assaulting, raping or attacking someone, this suggests deeprooted sexual problems that they might want to talk over with a doctor. A single dream in which aggression, sexual or otherwise, occurs is not so worrying and is actually quite typical. Such a dream will be expressing negative feelings of anger, hostility, rejection, embarrassment or envy that have probably been repressed in waking life. Dreams of assassination or murder have the same interpretation. Dreams in which you are evicting someone from their home or your home suggests that there is something in your life you are angry about and of which you desire to be rid.

This may be some characteristic within yourself or another person. Dreams that focus on ambushing may have the same theme but in this case there may be something about the person or thing being ambushed that you want to possess yourself.

Libel dreams in which you are attacking someone verbally may suggest that you are spreading vicious rumors or someone is spreading them about you. Any dream in which you have a feud, dispute or attack suggests either a disagreement with someone in your waking life or inner conflict with an aspect of your character. Dreams in which you are rebelling against someone or something have the same interpretation. Pay attention to the atmosphere of your dream as it may reveal much about your emotional state at present. The dream may also be describing your feelings of being threatened.

The Element Encyclopedia | Theresa Cheung

Frustration, hurt, disappointment in self because of unexpressed emotions and needs. You are always angry at yourself even though yelling at others. Insecurity, fear and negative programs are projected on others because of refusal to acknowledge that source of problem lies within. Anger may be used positively or negatively: to see areas for work on self, or to avoid responsibility and blame someone else.

The Dream Books Symbols | Betty Bethards

A dream of contrary.

If your anger was directed at someone you know, you will benefit materially through a friend; if the object or cause of your anger was unknown to you, you will soon be celebrating some joyous good news.

The Complete Guide to Interpreting Your Dreams | Stearn Robinson - Tom Corbett

This may be a carry-over from your daily life. In our dreams we can experience and express such feelings safely. Feeling great anger in your dream may be disturbing but pay attention to it and attempt to deal with all of your emotions in a more appropriate and productive manner. Also, you could be being warned to release your anger in a positive manner.

If you are not aware that you have anger, this dream is warning you of its hidden power. Anger is just another pattern to be dealt with.

The Bedside Dream Dictionary | Silvana Amar

To dream of anger, denotes that some awful trial awaits you. Disappointments in loved ones, and broken ties, of enemies may make new attacks upon your property or character.

To dreams that friends or relatives are angry with you, while you meet their anger with composure, denotes you will mediate between opposing friends, and gain their lasting favor and gratitude.

Ten Thousand Dream Interpretation | Gustavus Hindman Miller

1- Anger in a dream can often represent other passionate emotions. We arc struggling with the right to express that which is distressing us. We probably are unable to express emotion appropriately in waking life, but can do so in dreams.

2- We can give ourselves permission to feci passion, which could be sexual or otherwise. Often the way we express emotion in dreams can give us information as to appropriate behaviour in everyday life.

3- We are suffering divine displeasure.

Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary | Pamela Ball

Dreaming of expressing anger is a healthy way to release or vent your frustrations and hurt feelings at what may be politically incorrect, or socially unacceptable in real life. Keep in mind that your anger, if channeled properly, could be the creative fuel you need to manifest your hearts desires. See Venting Dreams.

Strangest Dream Explanations | Dream Explanations - Anonymous

1. If the dreamer is angry at something or someone, chances are the dreamer is also afraid of the person or thing, but can’t vent in waking life.

2. If someone is angry at the dreamer, it may indicate that the dreamer is afraid of that person, but doesn’t allow him/herself to experience this in waking life.

New American Dream Dictionary | Joan Seaman - Tom Philbin

A dream of contrary.

If you are angry in your dream with some person whom you know, it shows that you will benefit in some way through that person.

If it is a stranger, then some unexpected good news will reach you.

Mystic Dream Book | Internet Archive - Anonymous

To dream of feeling very angry, forewarns that you will be involved in a tense situation. People you care about may let your down and disappoint you. Being angry in your dream may also have been carried over from your waking life. In your dream, you may have a safe outlet to express angry emotions that you have not vented in real life.

If you dream that someone is angry at you, this indicates inner turmoil. Some aspect of yourself is in conflict with another aspect of yourself. Perhaps a part of you that you don’t acknowledge, is fighting to be heard. This dream is also common when we’ve done something wrong, and feel guilty about it.

My Dream Interpretation | myjellybean

(Fury; Indignation; Rage) Leaving one’s home angry in a dream means entering a prison. Ifone gets angry for material gains in a dream, it means that he has disdain and contempt toward God’s religion. However, should he get angry in his dream to defend God’s rights, then it means gaining strength and power. Becoming angry for someone else’s sake in a dream signifies a corrupt contract, a tainted agreement, a marriage consent with a hidden intent of a divorce to follow, fighting for unlawful earnings, or it could mean accumulating money from usury. In a dream, usury and anger mean falsehood in wakefulness.

(See Foam; Frothing at the mouth; Sneezing; Suppressing one’s anger)

Islamic Dream Interpretation | Ibn Seerin

The person with whom you are angry is your best friend.

Indian Interpretation of Dreams | Indian - Anonymous

Anger in a dream at someone you know is usually an expression of pent-up hostility toward that person. In waking you may not be able to express your anger, because you do not wish to hurt their feelings or they may be your employer. In sleep anger comes out because you have to vent it in some fashion.

If you dream that someone is angry at you, then this means that you either suspect that the person in real life is angry at you, or you have that particular paranoia.

Encyclopedia of Dreams | Michael and Elizabeth Thiessen

To dream that you are angry signifies vexation and regret within yourself. You push the negativity down and this reveals itself in anger toward others. Evaluate yourself. Anger could have followed you into your dream from something that happened in waking hours. Dreams are a safe harbor with which to deal with these intense emotions. You simply haven’t yet consciously accepted these strong angry emotions.

Dream Symbols and Analysis | DreamForth

Throughout history societies have believed that if their gods are displeased they will show their anger.

If a dream figure is angry, therefore, we may feel that we are offending our own code of conduct or are suffering divine displeasure. Often anger is symbolized in dreams by, for instance, a flaming torch or a raging animal.

DANGER

Most often anxiety. We may fear the danger of allowing our sexual urges—the danger of falling in love with its possible pain—the danger of failing if we take a nsk. These may be depicted as impending danger in a dream. In such cases the real danger is of taking our anxieties as reality, instead of seeing them for what they are, a reaction to a situation.

A relative, loved one in danger: the temptation is to believe the dream is presaging a real event. Our concern for children and loved ones, but more often our fears regarding them, create most of such dreams.

DANGER

Dreams about earthquakes, landslides and volcanoes all point to inner turmoil or emotional conflict that is shaking the foundation of the dreamer’s world. The dream may often come close to being a nightmare, but such dreams are warning you about something that is going on in your waking life to which you need to pay attention. A dream about a natural disaster is unlikely to be prophetic; it is more likely to be referring to something dangerous in your waking life. For example, an avalanche dream may refer to oppressive forces in waking life threatening to overwhelm you—an avalanche of responsibility, for example, that accompanies the birth of a new child.

If you are swept away in the dream, you are being urged to find something, or someone, to hold onto in waking life to regain stability.

If you dreamed that the earth was cracking open beneath you, this threat may be echoed in changes at work or insecurity within a relationship.

An explosion may reflect sudden changes in waking life or the release of emotion. What damage has the explosion inflicted in the dream? If anything was broken, interpret its symbolism; if someone was clinging on to you in the dream, who are they? If you dreamed you were in danger of thunder or lighting, again this may refer to emotional turmoil in waking life; but a dream about being struck by lighting could refer to sudden insight.

If you dream that you are falling into a dark hole, is there some situation in waking life out of which you feel you cannot climb?

Dreams featuring alarms may be caused by car or house alarms that go off in the night; if there is no external stimulus of this sort, and your dream features a house alarm, does this allude to your family? Does someone need protection at this time? Was the alarm effective in the dream? If the alarm failed to go off, this is an extremely significant symbol.

If your dream features a car alarm, this may allude to some kind of rash behavior and, as men often equate cars with sexuality, you may want to consider it in this context.

Dreams can also often warn of dangers of which we may be unaware in waking life. For example if you dream of overspending, this may suggest you are expending too much emotion on a particular person.

If you dream of escaping from a prison to a happy landscape, this may be a warning that you need to relax more. There are other practical warning dreams. For example, you may dream that your car brakes fail and in waking life find that this is indeed the case. There is usually a simple explanation as your unconscious mind may have registered the fault, but this kind of dream should not be ignored (see ACCIDENTS, ACTION AND ADVENTURES). Similarly dreams of bodily aches and pains and other signs of poor health are also worth taking note of. See also SICKNESS AND HEALTH.... The Element Encyclopedia

ESCAPING DANGER

If you wake up before being caught, eaten or beaten, you need to ask yourself what you need to wake up to. What are you missing or avoiding in waking life? Things won’t get better until you face up to them? Dreams about breaking free from jail, cages, ropes or shackles may point to a desire for release from a situation, such as a job that is causing stress. The elation surrounding dreams of leaving jail may suggest feelings about a new opportunity in our life. However, if no joy accompanies the liberation, this could suggest anxiety about the challenges that lie ahead. Breaking out of jail on the other hand testifies to a determination to create your own chances and give free reign to talents that have too long been repressed. Alternatively, if you have been depressed recently, break-out dreams could suggest the need to seek serious help, as the dream may signify a yearning for the ultimate release—death. If, on the other hand, you are rescued in your dreams, or help rescue someone, this can express the need to liberate creative energies or some aspect of yourself that isn’t being developed in waking life.... MONEY EXCHANGER

In a dream, a money exchanger represents knowledge, poetry, speaking the right words, richness after poverty, a school, the fellowship of a wise man, or a scale. In a dream, a money exchanger also could represent someone who has knowledge, though no one benefit from what he knows except in mundane matters. His work relates to scientific writings, scientific arguments, dispute of authority, or questions and answers. Perhaps his only balance or criterion is his own judgment. His balance represents his tongue and ears. His weights are his only instrument for justice and judgment. His measuring pennies are his fights with people.

A money exchanger in a dream also represents a religious doctor or a scholar who takes religious questions and interprets their definitions. He also could be a dream interpreter who measures everything he takes in and gives an appropriate answer. He takes a pearl necklace for a price and gives words in return, or he takes scattered words and gives a beautiful pearl necklace in exchange.

If one who is experiencing difficulties in wakefulness changes some money in a dream, it means that his difficulties will diminish.

If one buys gold coins and gives silver money in exchange in a dream, it means reparation, financial obligations or liability. Seeing a money exchanger in a dream also represents wealth, or quick richness from suspicious sources, or he could represent an accountant, a bookkeeper, or a ledger keeper.... STRANGER

The interpretation of seeing and interacting with a stranger, or strangers, in your dream depends on the details of your dream and on your personal belief system. Some Eastern cultures believe that the strangers in your dreams are spirits from another dimension. These spirits may be teaching you lessons or giving you specific messages.

The more modern approach to interpreting a dream with strangers in it is that they represent different sides or unfamiliar aspects of our personality.

The best way to tell is to “check inside” of yourself and simply try to understand the message of this dream. Whether the message is coming from your unconscious or from a different reality might be irrelevant.

The lessons gained through a dream are far more important then where they came from. Just remember: The mind that dreamt the dream also knows its source and meaning (and that is YOUR own mind). See also: People... The Bedside Dream Dictionary

STRANGER

A person unknown to you is still representing a character aspect of your personality, even if his or her identity is concealed or the person is a stranger. When making an interpretation about a person you don’t know, you must focus on what you actually do know. What the person is doing in your dream and how you feel about that will give you the essence of your interpretation. Whatever message your dream is presenting you with, the fact that it comes from a stranger or a person with a concealed identity indicates that the unconscious is not quite ready to reveal what is being called into action in your current situation. More will be revealed; we learn in stages and increments and often resist change, so be prepared for initial levels of fear to come up around this type of imagery.

The unknown assailant who chases us may simply be trying to give us our forgotten lunch money or an umbrella because it is raining. When there are clear personality traits apparent and the person’s identity is unknown to you, it likely points to an area of development within your own personal makeup. An angry or aggressive stranger may point to an integration of that energy into consciousness.

A more helpful or gentle stranger indicates that softer elements are being called into prominence. Whatever end of the continuum your dream stranger is on, be prepared to consider the necessity and power of the energy he or she is embodying in the dream.

A deliberate concealment of identity can also indicate a matter of the unconscious tricking the conscious into hearing a difficult piece of information; for just as in life, it is sometimes easier to hear impactful news from a stranger than from someone we love.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

STRANGER

Your dreaming mind may often conjure up images of strangers, unknown people or people whose faces are hidden by masks as representations of the shadow, private and sometimes shocking side of your personality. This is especially the case if the strangers are inadequate or sinister in some way, or if they are burglars, intruders or criminals.

If such images appear, it is important not to ignore them as you need to acknowledge these dream figures as reflections of an aspect of yourself in order to face up to your fears.

If you do not do so, you will continually come up against feelings of insecurity and low self- esteem in waking life. The stranger in a dream represents that part of yourself that you do not know. There may be feelings of conflict or tension but you need to deal with these dark images before you can progress in waking life. Jung referred to the shadow as the dark side of a person that you would like to keep hidden—’the thing a person has no wish to be’. The shadow can be thought of as an instinctive and primitive side of your personality that you are trying to repress.

Dream strangers therefore generally represent aspects of your character that you either haven’t consciously acknowledged or that you have neglected. This is why they appear unfamiliar or strange in your dream. How these strangers look and behave will give you an important clue to the nature of the problem area.

If a sinister figure does appear in your dream, try not to avoid confronting it. Notice how it tries to control the action in your dream. Observe what negative aspects of yourself it may be addressing and try to address them in your waking life.

Self-destructive urges are less likely to overwhelm you if you are prepared to confront them.

If dream strangers represent aspects of your personality any spacemen, aliens or extraterrestrials in your dream usually indicate that you are feeling threatened by alien forces or situations. Starting a dialogue with them should help you understand them better and allay your fears of the unknown. The same applies if a foreigner appears in your dream speaking an unfamiliar language....
