CLOCK

Standing still: Impatience for some event soon to come, or feeling spiritually, emotionally, or mentally paralyzed.

Hands or mmibers moving counterclockwise: Ask yourself if you’re going against a personal taboo or taking a step backward toward obsolete habits and thought patterns.

Punching a time clock: The danger of becoming a slave to schedules and the agendas of other people.

Is the clock digital, electric, a wristwatch, wind-up, a cuckoo clock, or perhaps even a sundial? Each of these has different associations. Digital clocks show that you are living in the present. Electric clocks and wind-up versions are more antiquated, revealing a stronger focus on times past.

The cuckoo clock expresses

CLOCK

As a machine, it is linked with ideas of perpetual motion, automatism, mechanism, etc. The clock can represent human destiny, as it is the measurement of your time. Its sound, further, reminds one of the beating of the heart, which identifies it with the emotional side of your personality. It could manifest that your life is governed by artificial routine that has created organized society. In this sense, you should live more casually and think less about time and dates.

If you see a clock that is behind, it is a sign that you have the tendency to leave issues hanging.

If it is fast, it means that you suffer stress and it would be best to relax some.

If the clock shows the exact time, it indicates that you are losing time and that the moment to decide to act has already come; although it could also be a warning to be more punctual.

If it shows that there is one minute to midnight, it denotes your desire to advance a situation that affects you.

If it is stopped, it manifests the status of your emotions.

Dreaming of various clocks with different times is synonymous with disorder and confusion. Lastly, dreaming of a chronometer evidences that you do not have your emotions under control. (See HANDS (of a clock) and TIME)

CLOCK

Time element. Allotted time.Check conditions surrounding the clock and the appearance of the clock. It is talking to you about time, a cycle, age or duration of something. Carl Jung called all circular images a “mandala.” It is one of the most important dream symbols which represent the psychic center of personality.

It is symbolic of wholeness, completeness, and unity of the self.

The clock is a mandala that revolves and it may represent immortality. On the lighter side, when you are dreaming about a clock, time is an obvious issue. You may be currently experiencing anxiety in regard to a time-sensitive situation.

For example, people worry about their “biological clock” running out, or they are concerned about not being “on top of things.” In general, however, this dream may be a reminder that you need to speed up your actions and that time is an important factor. Old dream interpretations say that if you hear a clock strike, (or alarm go off), positive things will happen to you, and if you are winding a clock, you will fall in love! To dream of entering a door, denotes slander, and enemies from whom you are trying in vain to escape. This is the same of any door, except the door of your childhood home.

To dream of entering a door at night through the rain, denotes, to women, unpardonable escapades; to a man, it is significant of a drawing on his resources by unwarranted vice, and also foretells assignations.

To see others go through a doorway, denotes unsuccessful attempts to get your affairs into a paying condition. It also means changes to farmers and the political world.

To an author, it foretells that the reading public will reprove his way of stating facts by refusing to read his later works.

DOOR

Example: 41 find my way to a door and knock.

It is at the end of a cul de sac.

An old woman of about 60 comes to the door. Although old, she is healthy and well preserved. Without a word I grab her in my arms and have sex with her’ (Patrick S). Freud felt that a door, a keyhole, a handle, a knocker, all depicted sex and sexual organs.

The example shows this clearly. Knocking refers to the sex act, the cul de sac is the woman’s legs. But the image of a door has so many other ways of being expressed in dreams and is used very frequently. In the next example it represents the experience of discovenng a new feeling state.

For instance, if one had always been apologetic and now became affirmative, ‘new doors’ of expenence could well open. Example: I come up to a door which I d never seen before, and on opening it, I came across another house fully furnished’ (Mrs R F).

General meanings, depending on the dream, are a boundary; the difference between one feeling state and another; such as depression and feeling motivated; the feelings or attitudes, such as aloofness, we use to shut others out of our life to remain independent or private; being open or inviting; a sense of leaving an environment or relationship—escape; entering into new work or relationships. Someone at a door: opportunity, the unexpected; new experience. Front door: public self; confidence; our relationship with people in general; a vagina. Back door: our private, family life; our more secret activities; the anus. Side door : escaping from a situation, or being indirect. Shutting a door: privacy; trying to find ‘space’ for oneself, the dismissing attitudes or tension we use to shut others out of intimate contact; end of a relationship. Door to strange landscape or world: finding entrance into unconscious. Doorknob: see knob.

Example: 4I am being strangled from behind by a faceless man! I had gone down to lock my flat door for the night when I noticed the door was open. I hastily bolted it and ran upstairs, but unknown to me the intruder was already in the flat’ (Miss H). Here the door represents the censorship the dreamer places between her conscious self and her sexual drives. In strangling’ our own life drive, we ourselves feel cut off from life. ... DOOR

Dream doors can represent several meanings: An open door means a new opportunity; walking through a door means you will take it.

A choice of many doorways represents a difficult decision you must make in real life.

A locked door means someone is hiding things or is stopping you from doing something you want, especially if you were locked out of someplace.

If you are locked in, you might have a change of location in your life.

If you are unable to find the door out of someplace, your dream is telling you that you’re on a “road to nowhere” in your life - you must make changes in the direction your life is heading.

To dream of having a door slammed in your face represents opportunities that are denied and not available to you, or that you have missed out on. You may be having some anti-social tendencies.

A glass door is a warning against over-confidence. There is still work to do before you achieve your goals.

A small door symbolizes your desire for inner exploration and self-discovery. Revolving doors suggest that you are literally moving in circles and going nowhere. You may feel that your opportunities and choices lead to a dead end.

To dream about a back door relates to stress and the pressure that someone is putting on you in real life.... My Dream Interpretation

DOOR

General Meaning: A new direction in your life or one that has passed.

A gate, path, door or fence opening all speak of either a new direction in your life or one that has passed. I often see a door or gate in the spirit when I am releasing someone into something new in their lives.

• It often speaks of a new plan that the Lord has for them. Perhaps someone has been trusting the Lord for a new job or hoping to move house.

If I see an open door before them, it means that the way is clear before them.

If I see a closed door, it either means that we need to pray and open the door, or that something is blocking them.

The same refers to a path or to a gate.

• I might see a blockage in the road that needs removing, or the Lord could be saying “not now, I have put this blockage here for a reason”. Once again it takes a bit of discernment and a look at the person’s current condition. Let’s look at a few typical scenarios here: • Positive: I see a door, gate or a new path in the spirit most often when I am releasing an individual into their ministry or releasing them into something new. When I have imparted gifts or confirmed a calling in a person’s life, then the Lord often shows me a new door that he has for them. This door refers to a new plan, with a new set of circumstances.

• This often also involves closing off the doors to the past. At this point the Holy Spirit requires that they commit entirely to this new plan and allow Him to ‘burn their bridges’ of the past and close all past doors.

• Referring to a new direction for ministry: • 1. Corinthians 16:9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.(NIV) • 2. Corinthians 2:12 Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me,(NIV) • If you see a closed door, then the Lord means for you to open it in the spirit: • Revelation 3:81 know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.(NIV)

Negative:

Most negative doors I see in the spirit refer to an open door to the demonic realm. When I see an open door and darkness behind it, or a demon coming out of it, I know that a person has an ‘open door’ in their lives.

• In other words they have given the enemy license to mess in their lives because of personal sin, generational sin or sin by association. I do not close this door on the person’s behalf.

• It is vital to remember that you cannot forgive sins that are unto death. In other words, if the person in question opened the door, then it is up to them to repent and shut it.

• In a nutshell apply: James 4:7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

• Submit to the Lord, confess your sin and then close that door and tell Satan to leave! • Speaking of walking a life of sin (thus giving the enemy license in your life) Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil [men].

• In reference to giving license to the enemy: Ephesians 4:26 Be angry, but do not sin: do not let the sun set on your anger: 27 Neither give licence to the devil.

DOOR

(1) A door may represent an opening to a new phase of life or a possible new development - either in your external circumstances or in yourself.

(2) It may symbolize an invitation to enter the not-yet-explored parts of your psyche, with a view to bringing these under conscious control.

(3) If someone / something is on the other side of the door, this probably means you need to let something come out of vour unconscious into your conscious mind.

(4) The symbolism may be that which Christians apply to the Christ: the way to ‘salvation’ - that is, healing and wholeness. (Compare St

John’s Gospel 10:9: ‘I am the door. By me, if anyone enters in, he shall be saved’.)

(5) A closed door may symbolize A ‘no-go’ situation. You need to determine whether the impasse is unavoidable and therefore to be accepted (because, for instance, you have been pursuing a path that is out of keeping with your deepest values or needs) or one that you have artificially made for yourself (as a consequence of irrational guilt- feelings and anxiety, for instance) and can therefore remove by an act of will - though it may require a lot of preparatory work by way of investigating the (partly) unconscious psychic processes that have constructed the obstacle.... DOOR

It is a beautiful symbol full of meaning, especially if it is opening. In that case, it generally represents personal development and desire to explore your inner world, or it suggests that you are about to cross the threshold of a new life stage or to begin an important new project.

If in the dream they shut the door in your face, you may have the feeling of being excluded or ignored by others.

If you are not able to open it, it is a reminder that, right now, you should not try to alter the situation in which you are.

If the door is too narrow you may have to give up some of your demands in order to succeed. For Freud, this dream has a clear sexual reading: door represents the vagina. Consequently, if it is narrow it is a symbol of sexual difficulties, and the act of opening and closing it continuously is a clear allusion to intercourse.

The doorknob predicts unexpected good luck; its hinges, family problems. A closed door predicts lost opportunities; an open one, fortune; a revolving one, the arrival of a monotonous period; and a trapdoor, shocking news.

DOOR - analysis of the dream

Mireia dreamed: “I dreamed I was in a dark hallway surrounded by rooms on either side. Hanging on the walls there were old portraits of people who seemed to follow me with their eyes. I was terrified. I knew it was a test and needed to choose a door and walk through it, but I was afraid to be wrong; I was afraid that if I chose wrong I could fall into the void. Suddenly, one of the doors opened. I decided to go in. I found myself on a light and airy corridor; at the end I could see another golden door. I walked toward it, this time without fear and with confidence that something wonderful was waiting for me inside. I opened it, confident, and realized it was in my own room. I felt safe and calm but very tired. I laid on my cozy bed and gave myself up to a peaceful sleep. Then I woke up.”

Mireia’s dream reflects a very specific time in her life when she had to make important decisions that would affect her future. Her company had offered her a promotion that involved a transfer across the world: Australia. The dark and gloomy corridor reflects the situation at the moment of her dream, full of doubts and fears. The ancient portraits of people who seemed to be looking at her signal the pressure she was under. However, the door opening represented the opportunity that fate was offering to her; suggesting that she was about to cross the threshold of a new phase of her life.

The golden gate was the confirmation that her decision to leave would be the right one. Her unconscious was encouraging her to accept it. The fact that the door led her to her own room is a message that she did not have be afraid of changes, because home was also waiting for her over there.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

DOOR

You may be facing an opportunity or choice to venture into the unknown.

A door is the obstacle that separates a person from accessing whatever is in the room to which the door marks the entrance. It represents both opportunity and choice. What is on the other side connects with opportunity.

The volition required to open it and cross the threshold connects with choice. Additionally, when one door closes, another one opens, suggesting a correlation with transitions in life. Even if you think you know what is on the other side, a closed door creates mystery and uncertainty and usually refers to something that is unknown.

A door that is ajar or open is an invitation from the unconscious to check out what’s beyond it.

The more doors there are, the more complex the choice at hand may be.

The size and weight of the door may indicate the importance of the issue being expressed. Shutting a door indicates the will to end something or the ability to set a boundary with certainty and clarity.

A door being shut on the dreamer is an obstacle that is created by another person or a set of circumstances in the dreamer’s waking life.

The person creating the obstacle may in fact be yourself.

If you are not in control of whether the door is open or closed, issues of forced choice or lack of choice could be indicated.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

DOOR / DOORWAY

Doors may have a variety of different meanings—meanings that can usually be ascertained depending on how the door is disposed in a dream. An open door indicates a new opportunity; stepping through a doorway means appropriating a new opportunity, or entering into a new phase of life; a choice of many doorways shows a juncture at which a choice must be made; and a locked door indicates something repressed or hidden.

A closed door may represent something hidden, or it may symbolize an opportunity that is closed to us. (See also Gate.)... Dream Symbols in The Dream Encyclopedia

DOOR / KEYHOLE

In dream-lore, to pass through a door and enter a house is a decisive and symbolic action as the door represents the passage from one state of being to another. Freud and Jung agreed that the house signified the self and the body, but disagreed about the doors of a house. For Freud, doors are dream images representing the body’s orifices, whilst for Jung, doors express the dreamer’s relationship to their conscious and unconscious world. According to Jungians, a door opening outwards suggests a need to open up to others, whereas a door opening inwards suggests the need for greater reflection or a desire to explore the inner self.

In general, most dream analysts believe that entering through a door signifies new opportunities that will be presented to you. Doors and doorways represent an opportunity for either positive or negative change. You may be entering into a new stage in your life, moving from one level of consciousness to another.

If your dreaming mind portrayed you as stepping through a door, it signals your willingness to embrace change and the unknown, whilst letting someone in through the door indicates your willingness to interact with them.

If you were faced by a confusing number of doors, you may be feeling overwhelmed by choices in life and unsure which opening is right for you.

If you simply can’t find the door to escape through in your dream, then perhaps you feel unable to express yourself in waking life. To dream of locked doors signifies opportunities that are denied, unavailable to you or ones on which you have missed out. Also consider who or what you are shutting out of your life if your dream features a door; perhaps as one dream door closes, another will open…

More specifically, a front door usually symbolizes unfamiliar outside circumstances—if a doormat features in your dream as well, you may be allowing others to walk all over you in real life—while a backdoor stands for the more familiar traffic of people we already know. Unwanted changes in your life are often depicted in dreams as intruders or strangers at the door, and if you are beginning a new relationship and themes of burglary or home invasion appear in your dreams, this does not necessarily mean your partner is dangerous; the dream may be providing an early warning of undercurrents in your relationship that are not nourishing to you. In some instances, the dark stranger at the door represents an aspect of yourself that is selfcritical and self- destructive.

Another dream featuring doors is that of being locked out or being unable to enter your home because you have lost your key. This image reflects a situation in which you are being prevented from accessing your talent, drive and energy. You have been locked out from the best part of yourself but the situation can be easily corrected by remembering your key next time, or finding another way in. In most cases, the key indicates willingness to change and to experiment with alternatives. Keyholes in dreams allow you to view that which is otherwise concealed; if this image appears in your dream, ask yourself whether your privacy is being invaded in some way or whether you are prying into affairs that are no concern of yours. A rusty key may indicate talents that are being neglected. Freud viewed the key as a phallus and saw potent sexual symbolism in the trio of key, door and the door’s subsequent opening. Finally, to dream that you hear or ring a door bell foretells of unexpected news.... The Element Encyclopedia

DOORS

Doors often refer to the openings of the body and, therefore, by default, one’s sexuality.

The front door and back door signifies the vagina and the anus respectively. Breaking down such a door can be taken to indicate the need to deal with some kind of inhibition over privacy or sex; there can be an unwillingness to face whatever issues this may bring up. Barring the door highlights our need for self-protection, not just in matters of relationship. Opening and closing the door can show an ambivalent attitude to sex, whereas refusing to open the door represents an innocent approach to our own sexuality; we may have a virginal mentality.

A door between the outer and inner rooms shows there may be a conflict between the conscious and the unconscious.

If an animal or person forces his way in and destroys the lock, it shows our own protective mechanisms have let us down. Escaping by another door indicates we need to find a new solution to the one we originally thought of to solve a problem. Someone knocking on the door signifies that our attention is being drawn to an external situation. You might like to consult the individual entry for door.... Dream Meanings of Versatile

FLOCK OF BIRDS

A group of birds can often symbolize yourself and the people in your life. Are the birds flying in the same direction? If they are, this can suggest harmony; if they are not, confusion may be indicated. Are the birds huddled together? If they are, do you prefer to surround yourself with people similar to you, as in ‘birds of a feather?’ A flock of birds can also represent your need to be part of a group that you identify with and admire; but is the flock celebrating or stifling your individuality? If the birds are in a tree, the branches of the tree may represent your family life, and the leaves and birds your thoughts.

If the birds are fighting, this suggests disagreements about viewpoints, or differing opinions, in waking life.

If a bird is attacking you, it may represent an attack on your ideas and opinions, such as being criticized by a parent; another interpretation is it symbolizes a fear of others, or of going beyond your boundaries.... The Element Encyclopedia

LOCK

A lock is a mechanism that keeps something impenetrable. Inherent in this as a symbol is the notion that there is someone who has the key.

If you come across a lock in your dream, there is something that is being kept from you or is not yet available for you to access. For a well-rounded interpretation, consider what type of lock it is and what it is keeping you from opening.

A lock in a dream could indicate a thwarted desire to get something you want.

A lock that is broken may leave you feeling unsafe if you are on the other side of what the lock is supposed to be protecting.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

LOCK AND KEY

According to Freudian analysis, a lock is commonly interpreted as a symbol of the female sexual organ with the key representing the phallus. LOCK AND KEY

Keys are clear symbols of freedom and opportunity in dreamland. They are also symbols of home ownership and trust, as you only give the keys to your home to people you trust. Bear in mind, though, that jailers also carry keys, so they can also be symbols of restriction and confinement.

If your unconscious highlighted a key in your dream, it could have been drawing your attention to any of these symbolic associations or reflecting your waking hopes and fears.

Keys might also represent an explanation or solution to a dilemma that has been worrying you. This is especially the case if your dream key fitted and a lock opened, as locks are symbolic of obstacles to success and self-knowledge. Where the lock was located in your dream may be significant.

If it was on a door, this is a symbol of transition or opportunity, but if it was on a cupboard, box or safe, this can represent your true nature and hidden inner qualities that are latent or repressed. If, however, the key, code or password did not match the lock in your dream, this could be a suggestion that you need to look elsewhere if you want to unlock or release the insight that will help you find a solution. According to Freud, keys are phallic symbols and the lock can signify the vagina, so if you dreamed of a key being inserted into a lock, the dream may have had an erotic significance. LOCKS (OF HAIR)

Although it usually refers to a vanity item, it symbolizes the superior force of will and knowledge. For this reason, when you have long and healthy hair in a dream, the image indicates that you are able to succeed. By contrast, if it falls or if it is cut, the image reflects fear and insecurity; it predicts loss of prestige and power. However, to get a haircut voluntarily indicates liberation, renunciation, and sacrifice. In the event that you shave your head, it means you reject all earthly matters in the pursuit of purity of spirit. And regarding the vanity aspect mentioned, dreaming that someone combs your hair expresses you are too concerned about your external image.

If in your dream, you have your hair loose to the wind, it indicates that you need more freedom to express your feelings. Body hair, meanwhile, symbolizes the primitive and instinctive force.

To get a haircut can show conformity. In the past, they used to cut the hair of prisoners, soldiers, and school boys. When the Beatles grew their hair long back in the sixties, they unconsciously expressed a generational revelation.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

UNLOCKING THE POWER OF YOUR DREAMS

Dream interpretation provides powerful knowledge about yourself that you might not discover otherwise, if you can understand the language of dream symbols. Encoded within dream symbolism you can find clues to what makes you tick, answers that point you toward your ideal life, and insights to help you resolve past issues and move through the challenges ahead. In fact, dream symbolism is so potent that sometimes translating just one dream symbol can unlock the meaning of an entire life transforming dream. This book teaches you how to translate dream symbol meaning and use it as the key to unlock the power of your dreams.

A Practical Goal
The practical goal of dream interpretation, as I see it, is to find the value in each dream so you can then apply it to improve yourself and your life. A dream’s value may be profound and life changing, or as simple as the realization that eating sweets too close to bedtime can trigger nightmares. Whatever the content of a dream, you can learn from it. So as you explore your dreams, keep the following objective in mind:

Find the value in your dreams.

  • The Value in Dreams
  • Virtually every dream offers value, revealing some new understanding about yourself or your life. If you pay attention to your dreams, they can help you:
  • Better understand yourself and your needs.
  • Get answers to important questions.
  • Clarify life purpose and direction.
  • Discover creative ideas and visions.
  • Help resolve issues from the past.
  • Resolve fears and move ahead.
  • Identify important health conditions.
  • Learn how to reduce stress in your life.”

WATCH / CLOCK

If a timepiece appeared in your dream, it is important to remember how you felt during and after the dream as it will suggest the way in which you allocate time in your life. Were the hands moving slowly or quickly? Was the timepiece telling you to speed up or slow down? The type of clock or watch is also important. Was it old-fashioned or modern? Dreams of clocks or watches can also suggest that you rely too heavily on clock time instead of enjoying and experiencing life as it happens.

If your dreaming mind zoomed in on a watch or clock, this could also be a reminder to make the most of your time and not to waste it.

If you keep checking a clock or a watch in your dream, this suggests anxiety and worry about some future event.

If you don’t feel this to be the case, your unconscious may have conjured this panic-stricken theme to urge you to prepare better for a future event or opportunity that may soon present itself in waking life. For example, have you done enough study to pass your driving theory test? Alternatively, your dream may have indicated frustration and regret at your inability in the past to make the most of an opportunity when it was presented to you.

If you dreamed that a watch or clock slowed down, this could reflect your feeling that events are moving slowly in your waking life or that time is dragging. Alternatively, the symbol of a watch may indicate your ticking heart, so if the clock stops or slows down, this may suggest either an emotional standstill or problems with your cardiovascular system. According to ancient dream-lore and superstition, when a clock stops, somebody will die but your dream will almost certainly have a different meaning. In the symbolic language of dreams, clocks and watches reflect your emotional state and a stopped clock or a clock that is broken may indicate emotional blockages or standstills, and a clock whose hands race out of control may indicate feelings run amok.

If you dreamed of a stopwatch, this highlights your sense of feeling pressured or working against the clock.

If you are a woman dreaming of ticking clocks, such a dream may indicate your biological clock. Dreams that focus on timepieces may also have been measuring the passage of your lifespan and the ticking clock could simply be a reminder that the seconds of your life are ticking away and there is still much for you to do. Watching the clock in your dreams suggests that you need to make time work for you. A clock tower combines this with a phallic form to offer an image of courage and determination.
