drunkenness

The meaning of Drunkenness in dream | Dream interpretation

Seeing other people under the influence of liquor is a forerunner of accident through carelessness.

To dream of being drunk is a distinct warning against taking chances in investing your money.

The Complete Dream Book | Gillian Holloway

It can be interpreted as a negative dream, since it involves the loss of precise control over actions and circumstances. However, it can also have a positive interpretation when it represents a release of schemes and limits (social, moral, economic, etc.) governing the conscious rational world. (See DRUNK)

The Big Dictionary of Dreams | Martha Clarke

(Inebriety) Drunkenness in a dream represents unhappiness, stress, depression, worries, vanity, arrogance, wantonness and abuse of riches. Wine in a dream represents the king of drinks. Ifone gets drunk from wine, then tears off his shirt in the dream, it means that he has put his life in order and has it harmoniously organized. It also means that he has abused his privileges by indulging in vain pleasures of living to such a degree that he could not bear to live with such comfort or control his passions and wants.

If one is seen drinking wine to inebriety in a dream, it means that he earns unlawful money. It also means that such earnings will seem to have power over him in the way of spending them.

To become drunk in a dream without drinking alcohol means feeblemindedness or childishness of an old man. Drunkenness in a dream is a bad sign for both men and women for it denotes ignorance and complication in one’s life. However, if a scared person sees himself drunk in a dream, it means that he will overcome his fears. Pretending to be drunk in a dream means a false claim. Such a person also may be inflicted with an untrue accusation in wakefulness as a lesson, so perhaps he may refrain from false claims and he will come out of such false adversity as though he is drunk without drinking.

If a pious person sees himself drunk in a dream, it could represent his love for God Almighty.

This is an unfavorable dream if you are drunk on heavy liquors, indicating profligacy and loss of employment. You will be disgraced by stooping to forgery or theft.

If drunk on wine, you will be fortunate in trade and love-making, and will scale exalted heights in literary pursuits. This dream is always the bearer of aesthetic experiences.

To see others in a drunken condition, foretells for you, and probably others, unhappy states. Drunkenness in all forms is unreliable as a good dream. All classes are warned by this dream to shift their thoughts into more healthful channels. ... Ten Thousand Dream Interpretation

INTOXICANTS

(Alcohol;Beer; Brewery; Cocaine; Drugs; Hashish; Injection; Inebriant; Marijuana; Opium; Sedatives; Spirits; Wine) In a dream, all intoxicants signify suspicions, apprehension and doubt about one’s resources, or the lawfulness of his earnings, the legitimacy of his children, or the religious legality of his marriage. Drinking alcohol in a dream means losing a fight. Using drugs or intoxicants in a contemptible way in a dream signifies apostasy, loss of honor, negation of the truth, corruption of one’s wife, or it could mean profanity. This is because the raw material and herbs used in the preparation of such drugs and herbs are sacred in their intrinsic state. Once mixed and taken to induce inebriety in a dream, they will produce the reverse effects.

BLUE

Points to faithfulness and deep emotions, but also to the desire for relaxation.

It is the symbolic color of the soul, since blue also symbolizes the depth of the sea and the expanse of the sky. It also stands for the unconscious, as well as isolation, expanse, and infinity. It stands for pure, clear Water, distant mountains, and sky. Blue symbolizes nature that has been saved. Pay attention to the degree of brightness!

The color blue may also indicate fogginess (like drunkenness); see also Alcohol.

It is also a symbol of depression (“I am feeling blue”). And last, but not least, a symbol of cold (particularly metallic blue).

Blue can also, as in the case of “blue mountains,” symbolize the connection between heaven and earth— spirit and nature. Blue coats were worn by wise women, pointing to our connection to water, mist, and heaven.

Blue is also the color of the cape worn by Mary; the womb that bore Christ is a symbol for the “sacred vessel.”

In alchemy, blue is the color of the moon, standing in for silver, and blue is also the color of the soul.

As opposed to Red, blue indicates a soothing, cool state (in color therapy, blue is considered relaxing).

In the Orient, blue is the equivalent of black and is considered the color of the underworld.

In Egypt, the underworld of Osiris is depicted in blue or black.

The Sufi (a mystical circle, followers of Mohammed) saw blue as the center of a flame, the expression of the highest form of passion.

A reflection of blue as an expression of passion is also found in our culture in the phrases “the blue hour / ’ and “blue movies”; also the “blues” in music.

1- To be drunk in a dream means that we are abandoning ourselves to irrational forces. We want to be free from responsibility and from having inhibitions.

To make someone else drunk is to be forcing our irresponsibility onto someone else.

2- Being drunk indicates the need to reconnect with a part of ourselves which can tolerate inappropriate behaviour. In previous societies it was an accepted part of life that, at certain times, drunkenness was allowed as a way of celebration or as a release of tension - hence the term a Bacchanalian revel’.

ORANGES

(see Eating, Fruit, Juice, Trees)

Because of its high vitamin content, this symbolizes good health or things that are good for you.

An emblem of the triune nature of humankind (body-mind-soul), because the tree bears flowers, leaves, and fruit simultaneously.

Buying oranges portends prosperity. In the Middle Ages, oranges were a highly valued and expensive commodity.

In the East, dreaming of oranges represents extending good wishes for joy and abundance to those you care about.

Controlling an unruly nature. Orange slices were originally put in drinks, believing they would prevent drunkenness. In this case, stopping the “inebriation” becomes a metaphor for self-regulation.

Russia: Faithfulness. Orange flowers were sometimes part of a brides bouquet for this reason.... The Language of Dreams

DRUNK

Being under the influence of alcohol is a clear sign of repression and desire for escape: not wanting to see reality. Although it also portends wealth and health, the type of beverage leads to different interpretations: if it is wine drunkenness, there will be successes in business and love; water drunkenness, excessive fantasy and bad luck; and strong liquor drunkenness, licentiousness. Feeling drunk when you had no alcohol at all is a warning of unreliable companies around you; and to see others in that situation, sad events in the near future.

HOTEL / B&B / PUB

Dreams that highlight hotels, bed and breakfasts, and boarding houses suggest that you are not currently feeling secure in your situation. They can also indicate a short-term situation, relaxation and escape, or activities separate from home life. For business people, hotel dreams may refer to work.

If you are about to take a vacation, your dream may simply reflect your excitement at the thought of the holiday. But if you are not going on holiday, the dream implies that you have reached a transitional stage in your life and the dream hotel mirrors how you feel about this change of circumstances. Perhaps you have recently moved to a new area, or a relationship has broken up and you are adjusting to your new single status. Was the hotel a bright, uplifting place or was it depressing and dirty? All these details will help you with the interpretation. Bear in mind, too, that hotels, although advertized as home from homes, are in fact impersonal places run by others—so do you yearn for anonymity or do you dread losing your identity? If the hotel has a gymnasium, this suggests challenges, finding ways to gain new skills, or concerns about your physical health and well-being.

If you were in a public house or bar in your dream, this suggests the sociable, easy-going side of yourself, as a bar or pub presents an arena in which you can overcome your inhibitions.

If there was a jovial atmosphere, this can suggest a wish to be less isolated in waking life or a new, optimistic approach to life. If, however, there was a brawl, this can suggest repressed emotions boiling over into anger. Drunkenness also suggests loss of control, a desire to forget the past, or an avoidance rather than a facing of emotions. An inn is like a pub, but with the difference that it offers a place to sleep overnight. It also suggests a more tranquil, rural environment, perhaps pointing to your desire to deal with repressed impulses from the unconscious in a secure, secluded environment. (For dreams of restaurants and canteens, see also FOOD AND DRINK.)... The Element Encyclopedia
