Sand represents hundreds of years of evolution at your feet. Made up of particles of eroded material, it may comment on the process of disintegration and regeneration of life. Sand may point to your personal evolution as it is connected to the evolution of the collective. As with “the sands of time.” shifting through sand may mention that you are looking at the continuum of your life’s passage in order to sift through the growth expenences of your life to measure how far you have come.

The tiny particles that make up sand have an implication of the many thoughts that occupy the mind at any given time. Since sand is so unable to structurally support anything because of its inherent lack of solidity, the symbolic meaning of it relates to the danger of any shifting foundation. How solid is the ground on which you are currently building the structures of your life?
