BREAKFAST / LUNCH / SUPPER

If the foods in your dream are breakfast foods such as cereal and toast, these may suggest your attitude to a new project. It is worth recalling how these foods were eaten. Was there an atmosphere of calm or was the meal rushed? This can have implications for how you are feeling about a new stage in your life.

Alternatively, your mind may already be thinking ahead about what to make for breakfast in the morning. It is not uncommon for your fleeting thoughts to be incorporated into your dream.

If a lunch features in your dreams, this implies a need to take time out from your daily efforts to revitalize yourself. The appearance of a dream lunchbox could be urging you to get as much done as possible or economize financially.

Supper pertains to a need to revitalize and energize yourself, whereas dinner connotes your main source of nourishment. The dinnerware used will portray your personal perspective towards nourishing yourself. A dinner dance suggests the joyful, nourishing benefits. A dining room usually suggests a concentrated and enjoyable manner of being nourished, whereas a dining car corresponds to a need to pay attention to your emotional needs whilst on your life journey.

If you enjoy a snack in your dream this implies rejuvenation or the re-energizing of yourself.... The Element Encyclopedia

CABBAGE / CARROT / CAULIFLOWER / CELERY / CUCUMBER

In some parts of Europe, cabbages are connected to conception or childbirth, because children are told that babies are found in a cabbage patch. On the other hand, cabbage may also refer to tough and difficult aspects of your waking life. To see a carrot in your dream signifies abundance. It may also symbolize a lure—as in the pun ’dangle a carrot’—or can be interpreted as a phallic symbol. In dreams, cauliflower could denote someone who displays little intelligence, as suggested by the phrase ’having cauliflower between your ears’. It could also suggest something that becomes distorted or misshapen as a result of repeated blows, such as cauliflower ears. Celery in dreams denotes problems and issues that need to be faced up to and dealt with, whilst the size of cucumbers in dreams may offer a surprising insight into the extent of your appetite for sex or for life.... DREAM IT WITH FLOWERS

In Victorian America and Europe, flowers were attributed with specific meanings by young men and women who used them during courtship to send messages to each other, whether in a forthright manner or by more clandestine means. Straightforward romantic or poetic thoughts were conveyed by the presentation of a single bloom, whilst lengthier messages were communicated by larger arrangements.

Love and happiness were not the only feelings expressed by these floral epistles. Infidelity, jealousy, disdain and rejection were also expressed by a suitably chosen bloom. Whilst a simple flower may have been sent to a young lady to propose marriage, another seemingly innocuous blossom may have been sent in response, telling the gentleman caller to ‘get lost’. The color of the flower was extremely significant; to cite a few examples, red usually meant love, yellow indicated friendship, lavender suggested enchantment, and orange fascination.

As far as dream interpretation goes, the list of meanings is seemingly endless, as nearly every flower has been attributed with a specific meaning at some point in time. In Victorian times, the range of available flowers was limited, and so certain flowers had specific meanings; today, with so many flower choices, there are no rules—it’s the sentiment and personal association that gives the flower meaning to you in a dream. For those interested in the historic or generally accepted meanings of flowers, the list below has been compiled from a variety of different sources, including the American Society of Florists.

Important is the type and the color of the flower. Red roses point to sexual love, white roses and other flowers point to innocence, blue flowers to the strength of the soul and emotions. Snowdrops point to overcoming the cold of winter, asters to autumn and death. Picking flowers is considered a symbol of sexual experience.

In the Middle Ages, flowers with broken stems meant sexual intercourse. In India, in dream interpretations, the flower is the symbol of the highest pleasure. In Freud’s dream interpretations, the flower is dealt with extensively and symbolizes women, tenderness, female genitals and genitals in general, as in Blossoms (see Anais Nin’s The Delta of Venus).

FLOWER

(see also Mandala; entries for particular flowers: e.g. Rose, etc.)

(1) A flower may symbolize what Jung called ‘the Self: the true self; the fundamental order and beauty of the psyche. (For ‘SelP) (In Eastern mystic-meditative traditions, particularly the Taoist and Zen Buddhist, meditation on a flower is recommended as a means of promoting inner healing.)

(2) An asymmetrical flower — for example, with one petal much larger than the others, or in which what should be the centre of the flower is actually off-centre - may indicate a lack of balance in your psyche: some part / function has been developed at the expense of others; or it may be that you have lost your ‘centre’ altogether - that is, have become disorientated.

If so, you may need to put aside externally or intellectually imposed values and rediscover your inner centre, where you will find the values that are right for you. (This does not mean an

out-and-out relativity of values. The values that correspond to your individual ‘destiny’ will be seen to centre on love, which means awareness of the oneness of all life and ensures respect for other people.)

(3) The flower in your dream may be a reminder of the beauty and stillness of Nature, and of the need to get back to that beauty and stillness in yourself; a reminder that just being, and letting the ground- plan of your life unfold itself, is more important than (external) achieving.... FLOWER

Flowers are natural symbols of beauty, delicacy, harmlessness, and attraction (e.g., the attraction of bees to nectar). Flowers are also symbols of the deep self. FLOWERING TREE

People have worshipped trees for centuries and profound symbolism is associated with them. The dream image of a mature flowering tree can evoke the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life at the heart of Eden or the cross on which Jesus was sacrificed, which is also called a tree and is a symbol of redemption. These Judeo-Christian images have their counterparts in other cultures and myths, with divine trees that sustain knowledge, spiritual growth and divinity, perhaps the best known being the mighty ash Yggdrasil of the Norsemen. And in Islamic belief a tree symbolizes a spiritually mature person. A tree can also represent time; the root, the past; the trunk, the present and the branches, the future. Perhaps your dream says something about your hopes for the future.

According to ancient dream-lore, climbing a tree is said to be lucky.

If you dream of a fruit-bearing tree, take a look at which type of fruit is present and its meaning for you.

If you noticed the species of tree, what is that species associated with for you? Did you dream of the mighty, strong oak, dainty cherry tree or somber, dark conifers? Did you dream of a single tree or a forest? If you find yourself lost in a forest, perhaps you ’can’t see the forest for the trees’ or have lost sight of your goals. Walking through a forest may symbolize a need to get back in touch with your inner self and your instinctual nature.... The Element Encyclopedia

FLOWERS

Flowers symbolize beauty and safety. They are also symbols of the inner feminine self.

If you dream of seeing or being in a field of colorful flowers, this represents your own kindness, compassion, gentleness, beauty and pleasure in life.

It is also a symbol of perfection, spirituality, joy and financial gain.

To dream of fresh, brightly colored flowers growing in a garden or arranged in a vase or flower pot indoors, is a lucky omen of great personal happiness.

To dream of flowers blooming in barren soil means that your energy and cheerful nature will help you get through hard times.

If the flowers were dead or wilted or if you threw them away, the dream is warning you that overconfidence or carelessness goes before a fall. It may also means that you are not making use of your full potential and talents.

To dream of flowers opening can indicate psychic powers in the dreamer.

To dream of plastic flowers suggests that you are being fake in some way. You are not being genuine and true to yourself. Perhaps you are putting on a false cheerfulness, or acting like somebody you are not. Also see “Bouquet” and “Lei”... My Dream Interpretation

FLOWERS

Each flower has its own meaning but you can say that, in general, they symbolize joy, fleeting beauty, love, and happiness. Therefore, contemplating flowers in dreams may portend the beginning of a new relationship.

If you pick one, this relationship is likely to be reciprocated; however, if during the dream you just smell them you will probably be the one who ends up quitting such a relationship.

If you can tell the color of the flower that appears in the dream the interpretation will vary according to the meaning of each color.

Buddha’s teachings say that every person goes through the same phases a flower does. You may be in the dirt of desire or you may rise up and gradually open up to the light.

FLOWERS

A flower is a symbol for expressions of love and beauty for its own sake. Flowers also represent fertility and the possibility of new growth in the future. There is a language to flowers that we have lost in modern society but that was once a vibrant way of communicating specific loving messages. For example, a red rose signifies romantic love, whereas a yellow one indicates platonic love. No matter what distinctions you draw about the specific flower(s) that appear in your dream, consider that once flowers are picked, they begin the process of wilting and decay, representing the ephemeral nature of feelings of love and its expression.... FLOWERS

If you were presented with a bouquet of flowers in your dream, you need to notice who or what gave you the flowers, what kind of flowers they were, and what color they were, as all these messages are significant. The giver may be someone who you already know who holds you in high regard, but if it is someone you don’t know so well, your unconscious may be alerting you to their secret admiration. It is also possible that your unconscious is compensating for lack of recognition from other people and expressing your desire for them to be more demonstrative.

If the flowers are dying or have wilted this could suggest that the giver’s admiration is wilting, or that your expectations are disappointed.

If the dreamer discards the flowers this signifies bad relations between the dreamer and someone close to him or her, or the people around him or her, both at work and in the family.... The Element Encyclopedia

FLOWERS

The fragile loveliness of flowers, their bright colors, exquisite shapes and fragrant scents have meant they have long been regarded as a symbol of the spiritual self and pure inner beauty.

This is why, apart from enjoying them ourselves, we use flowers as gestures of love, reassurance and sympathy and why we often give them to people we like, love or admire. It is generally in one or other of these contexts that flowers appear in your dreams. When flowers are in bloom their beauty is vibrant and colorful but also fleeting and fragile, because as soon as a flower bursts from its bud into full bloom it is in the process of dying to make way for the next generation of flowers. As such, flowers in dreams can also be symbols of hope and optimism, as well as of the cycle of birth and death.

In his practice, Carl Jung observed that the dreams his patients reported consistently contained geometric shapes, such as circles, squares and triangles. A close look at a flower reveals that it is similarly composed of repeated shapes and patterns, reminiscent of the mandalas used in the Eastern religions that represent the wholeness of the spirit unfolding like a blossoming flower. The Buddha observed that the lilies floating in a pond were in various stages of development, just as each individual is in various stages of spiritual development. Some rose above muddy conditions to thrive whilst others struggled to survive.

In helping you discern their particular meaning, the color and condition of the flowers in your dream may be as significant as the flowers themselves. For example, red roses speak of romance and beauty whilst white roses speak of purity, spirit and healing. To dream about new blossoms suggests the opening of the inner self. To dream about a healthy flower represents healthy vitality, and to dream about a wilted flower represents a low energy or life force. Dreaming of an expansive field of beautiful wildflowers may symbolize freedom and uninhibited growth. Flowers growing through concrete or popping up through the snow might symbolize a strong spirit whilst flowers growing in the spring indicate new growth and beginnings. Flowers are often present in dreams of departed loved ones, symbolizing the natural cycle of life and death. Reflect upon the personal significance of the flower to determine its meaning in your dream. Take note, too, if the flowers have unusual colors; a friend giving you green roses, for example, may be jealous of your romantic attachments. FLOWERS IN BLOOM

Flowers that are blossoming in dreams may symbolize the flowering of an idea or new relationship, or that a new phase in your life has begun. According to Freud, flowers are a female symbol, because of their cup-shaped blossoms and because a bee enters them in order to fertilize them. A flower in male dreams may therefore represent women in general or a particular woman. They can also represent an idea that has been fertilized in your mind. Pink or white blossom may also be a symbol of innocence in a dream and if the image of blossom fluttering down to the grass appears, this may signify the passing of innocence. When interpreting your dream, remember that a bloom is a plant’s reproductive structure, the carpel containing the female reproductive organ, and the stamen the male. So if your dreaming mind focused on a flower, the reference may also be sexual. And if the flower that bloomed in your dream was one that you recognize, its personal or symbolic meaning may have further relevance for you in waking life.

If, in your dream, the flowers were particularly colorful, this signifies kindness, compassion, gentleness, pleasure, beauty, and gain. Your dream may be an expression of love, joy and happiness. The colors of your dream flower may also be significant, as would their shape. Alternatively, dream flowers may denote a particular time, season or day of special significance to the dreamer or may relate to a specific sign of the Zodiac (see box on page 247). Keywords: Symbolic of beauty and inner development, puberty, coming into flower, seeing the beauty in a situation, violating, plundering or removing innocence and beauty from something, deflowering it, a homonym for flour.... GARDEN FLOWERS

In general, cultivated flowers symbolize how we can influence and control our development, whilst wild flowers and weeds symbolize spontaneity and how nature’s abundance comes in all shapes and varieties.

If you were planting flowers in rows in a garden or see formally arranged flowers in a flower bed, this could be suggesting that your life is a little too organized and lacking in spontaneity. Although it could also indicate that your personal life needs putting in order, in general flowers appearing in a dream garden suggest that your life lacks vibrancy and you are too preoccupied with the practical business of earning a living.

A dream of an inviting, flower-filled garden scene may be encouraging your waking self to relax.

If you dreamed that you were lounging lazily in a garden surrounded by flower-filled borders, your unconscious may have been mirroring your sense of satisfaction with your waking life but also may have been encouraging you to take the time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

If the flowers in the garden are dead, wilting or attacked by a worm or grub, this conveys a message of regret and danger.

If flowers are strewn across your garden, your house or even yourself, this suggests that your life contains a great deal of pleasure and fulfillment.

If you were watering or feeding the flowers in the garden or anywhere else in your dream, this suggests that you need to work on a relationship. Did you dream that your garden suddenly became parched and you were rushing to find water to feed the flowers? If this was the case, perhaps a dream like this is implying that you need to pay more attention to those around you, as your close personal relationships— symbolized by the drought-stricken flowers—are in urgent need of nourishment and rejuvenation.

GENERAL RULE PERTAINING TO A DREAM WITH TWO SCENES WITH OPPOSING INTERPRETATIONS

When two separate things with opposing interpretations are seen in a dream then the stronger or better of the two interpretations will be given. GIVING AND RECEIVING FLOWERS

If you dream of sending someone flowers or presenting or receiving flowers or a bouquet, try to identify who the other person in the dream is. It may be someone you admire, love or respect, someone from whom you desire admiration, love or respect, or someone who has more regard for you than you realize. According to dream-lore, to dream that you receive a bouquet of flowers represents respect, approval, admiration and reward.

If you can’t identify the person in your dream, this suggests that your self-esteem needs a boost. A garland of flowers given or received has similar, though more formal, associations.

If you are sending or receiving a wreath of flowers, this may be connected with feelings of guilt, hostility of loss that you need come to terms with.

If you are giving dead flowers in your dream, this represents something you want cut out of your life because you no longer have anything more than dead feelings towards it.... The Element Encyclopedia

INDIVIDUAL FLOWER MEANINGS

If a specific type of flower appears in your dream, the first step on your road to interpreting it is to find out whether it awakens a personal association. For example, daisies may trigger happy memories of childhood when you spent hours in the sunshine with your friends making daisy chains, whereas lilies may trigger unhappy memories because they bedecked a loved one’s funeral. If, however, the flower in your dream evoked no special memory, then your unconscious may have tapped into the universal symbolism associated with certain flowers. In past times, each individual flower had a traditional meaning and your unconscious may be accessing this knowledge to illustrate a point or convey a message to you. This is especially true if you are given flowers or are giving flowers to another person.

If you are intrigued by the possibility that a specific flower in your dream may be sending you a message, the information below may help. It might also be worth researching the medicinal, historical and secular associations of the flower, as well as its spiritual symbolism. Another tip is to take the name of the dream flower into consideration as your dreaming mind may, for example, have featured a rose to remind you of a special friend called Rose, or if you dreamed of a bleeding heart wilting, is someone close to you heading for a broken heart? Don’t forget, however, that a specific flower may have individual meanings for you, so if the emphasis in your dream seems to be on one particular species, try to recognize any possible personal connections first.... If the lower teeth fall in the dream, they mean pain, sufferings, sorrows and distress. Falling teeth in a dream also mean paying one’s debts.

If a tooth falls in a dream, it means payment of a loan, while the number of fallen teeth represent the number of debts to be satisfied.

If one’s teeth fall without pain or a cause in the dream, then they represent worthless deeds.

If they fall because of a gum disease or cause pain in the dream, then they mean being forced to part with something from one’s house.

If the front teeth fall and cause pain and bleeding in the dream, they represent one’s incompetence or inability to complete a project.

If one’s wife is pregnant, and if he pulls out a tooth without difficulty or pain in the dream, it means that his wife will give birth to a son.

If his gums bleed, it means that he will forsake his family, except ifhe owed someone money, then it means that he will be asked to pay, or that he will be forced to comply. Collecting fallen teeth in a dream also means saying something one will regret.

If a religious person loses his teeth in a dream, it means that he should be more assiduous in his devotion, and votive fasting will surely help him as a start.

If one loses his teeth and finds himself unable to eat properly in the dream, it also means poverty. Falling teeth in a dream also denote spending one’s money to acquire spiritual knowledge, then recuperating one’s investment through a new and a blessed business.

Dreaming about teeth is very common in all cultures and age groups. Most dreams about teeth leave people feeling uneasy and anxious. Consider the overall content and context of the dream and note if you are having dental problems before making interpretation. Teeth usually symbolize power and/or control. Animals use their teeth for defense and nourishment and show their teeth when angry. Humans often display similar behaviors. Look and see if you are losing or abusing power and control in any area of your life (especially if you are losing teeth in your dream). TEETH

(see Body, Mouth)

Hostility or an attack, such as when dream figures deliver “biting words” or “bare their teeth.”

Losing teeth in a dream may reflect words said in haste, or losing the ability to speak candidly.

Because this bony part of the body endures long after death, it has some associations with the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. In this context, losing teeth might equate to losing the will to live or having your personal power taken away.

Rotten teeth equate either to the fear of old age, or someone whose words are filled with so much insincere sweetness that decay in that relationship is inevitable.

Having teeth pulled out represents an end to suffering that is aided by an external force.... The Language of Dreams

If you dream of loosing your teeth, then you are venting your feelings of insecurity, powerlessness, financial stress, or your feelings about the loss or death of a family member.

If you dream of false teeth, then you are processing your feelings about lies, broken promises, and falsities.

If your teeth are strong and white, you feel bold, confident and powerful.

If you dream that someone is showing you their teeth, then this is a sign of aggressiveness and intimidation.

If you dream of flossing or brushing your teeth, then you are polishing up your verbal skills, your presentation, and your communication skills in order to make a good impression. Although it might be telling you about a physical pain you are not yet aware of, one of the most recurrent and universal dreams is one in which you lose your teeth. Many psychologists agree that this is a clear sign of fear and insecurity. They usually take place during the transition from one stage of life to another, reflecting your concern for growing up or sex appeal. Ultimately, you are feeling equally as helpless as when you were a kid and lost your baby teeth. Teeth also represent your capacity to respond aggressively, both for defense and for attack. In this interpretation you want to know about the condition of the teeth in the dream (if they are sharp, if they move . . .). On the other hand, growing your teeth is an omen of prosperity of all kinds. Healthy teeth indicate a good physical and mental health. Instead, dirty or damaged ones mean that someone around you is not acting properly. False teeth denote excessive importance to physical appearance.

In a region of Sudan, if a woman smiles by completely showing her teeth it is a bad omen. It symbolizes the jaws of a wild animal that scare the cattle. African sorcerers believe that this dream augurs upcoming prosperity. However, according to popular tradition moving teeth indicate illness or loss of affection. And losing them predicts pain and death. However, if the tooth falls on your hand, it is an opposite omen: you will have a son or will receive good news.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

TEETH

Dreaming about teeth falling out represents feelings of insecurity or inadequacy, and such dreams often occur at transition times in a person’s life. This is because losing your milk teeth is associated with the loss of childhood innocence. The dream could also highlight anxieties about getting older. According to Jung, if a tooth is being pulled out in a woman’s dream, this represents giving birth and in general it has associations with some kind of painful experience or loss that will lead to a new beginning. Animal teeth represent aggression and false teeth concern about self-image.

If you are toothless or see someone without teeth, this suggests loss of effectiveness or feelings about aging. Don’t, however, neglect the possibility that the dream may have been triggered by toothache or a recent trip to the dentist.

If teeth are rotten or decayed in your dream, perhaps you have said something you regret. Spitting out lots of teeth indicates something you need to spit out or admit in waking life.

If you are brushing your teeth in your dream, this may suggest you are experiencing a hard struggle in waking life; it could also, of course, echo your dentist’s plea to take better care of your teeth.

If something is lodged between your teeth, this suggests that a problem which seemed impossible in waking life may be easily resolved.

If one tooth is far larger than the rest of the teeth in your mouth, you may be worried that something in your personal and working life won’t be the success you hoped it would be. Clean teeth or teeth that glisten are linked to strong friendships or financial security.

If the roots of the teeth are featured, you may be thinking about the stability of your waking relationships.

If the roots are healthy, you are satisfied with these, but if the roots are twisted or unhealthy, this suggests concerns in that area of your life. ... The Element Encyclopedia

TEETH / LOSS OF TEETH

Vitality, relatives, friends, and lovers; but this image also has a predatory and destructive side. See Vampire.

As far back as Greek mythology, teeth were said to refer to children.

The reason probably was that, during pregnancy, mothers experienced the rapid loss of their teeth (“Each child will cost you a tooth”).

In mythology teeth are considered similar to seed corn, comparable to dragon’s blood. In addition, teeth symbolize the oral qualities of the dreamer.

The possible reason for this might be an eating and biting urge, or the repression of it. And, last but not least, teeth, like Mouth, are used to take in food. See Beauty, Face, Bones, Bite.

According to Jung and Freud, teeth are often a phallic symbol; and according to Freud, dreams about toothaches are considered masturbation dreams.

According to the newest dream research, women often dream about teeth during menopause.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

TEETH FALLING OUT

You are feeling insecure about some area of your life. Teeth serve three primary functions. They allow us to process our food so we can nurture ourselves. They express joy when revealed in a smile, and they can indicate aggression when exposed in a snarl. All of these things—nurturance, joy, and protection—connect directly to security and well-being.

If individuals cannot nurture themselves, attract loving connections, and protect themselves from danger, the basic constructs of a secure life are not likely to be available to them. Without these three important parts of life, fear will prevail. Therefore, when this dream image appears, issues of personal security are at the forefront of your unconscious expression. There are various levels of intensity associated with this symbol. It can fluctuate from a slightly loose tooth to having all your teeth crumble out of your mouth in a bloody mess.

The scale of intensity of the dream will indicate the amount of fear being expressed. Whether it is a general fear of being out of control, looking bad, aging, or some other issue of unmet needs, the appearance of this dream indicates underlying insecurity in some area of your waking life.

The teeth are used for chewing, and this association can indicate a need to “chew on something for a while,” as in mulling over a choice or course of action. “Sinking your teeth into something” refers to taking on life wholeheartedly. Losing your teeth in a dream could indicate an inability or unwillingness to do so. Losing our teeth as children is such a powerful rite of passage. On some level, losing your teeth in a dream will connect to the process of growing up, even in adulthood.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

TEETH FALLING OUT OR CRUMBLING

This dream might have a physical origin in people gritting or grinding their teeth during sleep. Freud suggested that dreams of teeth falling out are related to fears of castration, but women have this dream as often as men, suggesting that tooth troubles in dreams are related to hidden anger, with a dreamer acting out the clenching of teeth. Other dream analysts believe the dream reflects anxiety about appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth can also represent a means of assimilating knowledge so it can be used. Teeth are the first instruments of the digestive system, so in dreams they represent the acquisition of knowledge.

Losing teeth is a common symbol in a dream, indicating a change in the way the dreamer assimilates what is learned.... The Element Encyclopedia

The number Two is a symbol of partnership, dualism, contrasts, light and dark, polarity, the Light and the Darkness. Two is the symbol of the moon and regarded as feminine. It stands for gentleness, sensitivity, rich imagination, creative talents, idealism, and romance. Two-type people are less strong than One-people, but they have patience and perseverance. They are not very assertive, are overly sensitive, and tend to be melancholy. Two-people are balanced, thrive on harmony, are restrained, passive, and give in easily. Friendships are important to them and arc nurtured.

Generally speaking, Two might be a symbol of polarity— contradictions, good versus evil, spirit versus matter. It represents femininity, the ability to give and receive, and freedom of decision. This number tells you that everything has two sides and encourages you to reconcile contradictions and opposites or to balance them. See Moon.

UP, UPPER

Example: ‘When I was very small probably even pre-school I often dreamt of flying. I was mostly dressed only in my short vest and usually floating upwards to escape adults who were clawing at my legs to pull me down’ (Miss GC). Looking through dreams in which the words ‘up’, ‘upwards’, ‘upper’ or ‘upstairs’ are used, again and again one sees the same feeling as expressed in the example—getting away from being ‘pulled down’ by difficult feelings, by depression, by everyday duties, by difficulties in relationships, and so on. It expresses the technique we use when worried, such as reading a book, being entertained, having a drink—anything to take our attention away from the difficult feelings. Moving upwards of course also depicts positive change; shifting towards mental activity; gaining a wider view of things; promotion. Idioms: one up on; on the up and up; up a gum tree; up and down; ups and downs; up the pole; up the wall; up the spout; up to the hilt. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

WILD, CUT OR ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS

In dreams, wild flowers represent freedom, freshness and natural beauty, symbolizing a disregard for the highly organized beauty of artificial flower beds or plastic flowers.

If many flowers are growing in your dream, this indicates feelings of wellbeing and optimism. The opposite will be the case if the flowers are dying or wilting. Do nature’s simple charms have great meaning for you, with your dream of wild flowers indicating the need for a simpler life? Or do you feel you are about to flower and fulfill your potential? Dreamers picking wild flowers may be turning away from their partner.

Cut flowers are unable to give pleasure in their natural setting and therefore may suggest artificiality and appearance over substance. Because flowers are a symbol of sexuality, fake or artificial flowers in a dream may suggest that those whom you think of as friends are actually showing you a false face or persona. On the other hand, flowers in a vase suggest a showcasing of your inner beauty or something that facilitates your personal development.

If you were arranging flowers in a vase or in a floral arrangement, try to remember if you did so carelessly or with great care. The positioning of flowers in dream floral arrangements can indicate how we unconsciously relate to others.

If your arrangement was artless or careless, you have a casual approach to relationships with others that may leave others feeling unimportant to you.

If you took extreme care with the arrangement, this can either indicate a positive, caring approach to relationships with others or controlling and manipulative tendencies. And if dried flowers appeared in your dream, this suggests that past relationships may be more important to you than the people with whom you are currently interacting in waking life.... WITHERED OR DEAD FLOWERS

To see withered or dead flowers in your dream denotes disappointments and gloomy situations. You may not be utilizing your full potential and talents.

If you receive wilted blooms in dreamland as a gift from someone you know, think about the nature of your relationship with that person; your unconscious might have detected that the relationship is weakening. Similarly, if you are pricked by a hidden thorn in a bunch of roses given by colleague who was congratulating you in a dream scenario, is it possible that they are concealing real feelings of resentment towards you in waking life? If you gave a bunch of dead flowers to a difficult or strict former schoolteacher, could this highlight your extreme dislike of that person? To see flowers blooming in barren soil, however, signifies that your energy and cheerful nature will enable you to overcome your grievances.... The Element Encyclopedia
