The meaning of True / truth / trust in dream | Dream interpretation

A spiritual truth is seldom provable but is one that has been given credence through belief over time or through subjective observation.

It is something that, for most people, they ‘just know’. In dreams such intuition is valid. Trust is belief in such truth.

ANOTHER TRUE STORY

It was said to Imaam Ja’far (RA) that a person dreamed that rain was falling particularly on his head. He said: “A very sinful person has been this dream. Hasn’t he heard this verse of the Holy Qur’aan? : We sent down rains upon them, thus those who were warned, a calamitous rain had fallen on them”.)

It is said that lightning without rain symbolizes impending disaster for both, a musaafir as well as muqeem.

It is also said that lightning with rain symbolizes cure and remedy for a sick person.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

CAN DREAMS COME TRUE?

In 1953, in order to test the possibility of ESP through dreaming—that is, dreams that predict the future or contact others telepathically—a New York psychiatrist named Montague Ulman designed an experiment that involved using a “sender” and a “receiver.”

In this experiment, Ulman attached electrodes of an electroencephalograph (a machine that records brain waves) to the person acting as the receiver. This person would then go to sleep in one room. The “sender” was placed in a different room. When the machine indicated the brain wave pattern that showed the receiver had fallen asleep, the sender opened a sealed envelope that contained a “target” image and concentrated fully on the picture in an attempt to influence the receiver’s dream.

Once, when Ulman himself was acting as the sender, his thoughts strayed from the target image and he began to think about the book Spartacus, which had been made into a movie. The person acting as the receiver dreamed about the movie! Although his results were not all this successful, experiences such as this convinced Ulman that dream ESP was deserving of more research. So in 1962, with Stanley Krippner, he opened a dream laboratory in Brooklyn at Maimonides Medical Center. Although the two men’s experiments continued to produce mixed results, Ulman felt the experiments proved at least the existence of dream telepathy, though not its reliability.

Having experienced instances of ESP in my own dreams, I must concur with the doctors about its reality. Here is an example of a precognitive dream from my own files:

  • The Dream: I am taken to a place where seminars are being held. Someone tells me that this is the same place that B. (a psychic healer friend of mine) studied. I peek around the corner and hear a man say, “Abadie is doing rocks.”
  • I woke up feeling there was significance for me in “rocks,” but at the time I couldn’t figure out what it might be. Still, the word hung in my mind. A year later, I began working with crystals both for healing and telepathy.

The Complete Guide to Interpreting Your Dreams

DREAMS DON’T COME TRUE, DO THEY?

You may have dreams that appear to predict the future. Whilst many of these dreams can be easily explained, there are a few that seem impossible to explain and which might therefore be genuinely supernatural. During some periods of its history, the Christian Church regarded dreams as a way in which God showed his chosen people the future: St Augustine, for example, ‘saw’ his conversion in a dream ten years before it took place. The Bible itself is packed with predictive dreams and, as late as the sixteenth century, bishops would take careful note of their dreams to predict events.

Although there is some evidence that dreams may be able to reveal the future or events, they are perhaps best explained by anticipating what is likely to happen. For example, many dreams predicted the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. However, it must be remembered that President Kennedy was one of the world’s most well-known men and presidents are always vulnerable to assassination. Such dreams, as Jung put it, ‘are not more prophetic than a medical diagnosis or weather forecast. They are merely an anticipatory combination of possibilities which may coincide with the actual behavior of things but need not necessarily agree on every detail.’ Dreams of personal disaster are usually a common cause for concern; for example, a plane crash or car crash. However, such dreams are typically born out of apprehension.

Even though there is no scientific evidence that dreams can reveal the future, some dreams do seem to be genuine predictions. Just before his title fight in 1947, Sugar Ray Robinson dreamt he was in the ring with Jimmy Doyle. ‘I hit him a few good punches and he was on his back, his bland eyes staring up at me. Doyle never moved and the crowd was shouting, “He’s dead! He’s dead!”’ Robinson was so upset by the dream he asked Adkins, his trainer and promoter, to call off the fight. Adkins told him: ‘Dreams don’t come true.

If they did, I’d be a millionaire.’ In the eighth round, Doyle went down from a hook to the jaw. He never got up and was dead the next day.

If you are interested in this aspect of dreaming—whether you yourself have had predictive dreams or simply want to study the subject—it is vital to keep a detailed diary of your dreams.

If you do have a dream that seems to predict a serious event or important event, such as an explosion or a tornado, make a note, have it dated and witnessed, seal it in an envelope and send it to a reputable institution such as your bank with instructions to date it on arrival. TRUE INCIDENT

It is narrated that Rabee’ah bin Umayyah bin Khalf came to Hadhrat Aboo Baker As-Siddeeq (RA) and said: “ O khaleefah of the Messenger of Allah, I saw a dream last night.

I saw myself in a lush and green land. Then I suddenly saw myself in a barren land. At this stage I saw you clasping your neck with both your hands”.

Hadhrat Aboo Bakr As-Siddeeq (RA) : “if what you are saying is true then I am afraid you will forsake the Deen of Islam.

As for me all my affairs will remain protected and my hands will not be contaminated through worldly pursuits”.

The narrator says that during the Khilaafat of Hadhrat Umar (RA) Rabee’;ah Left Medinah to live in Rome . There he embraced Christianity in the presence of the then king and died as one.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

TRUE INCIDENT

Imaam Muhammad bin Sireen (RA) was approached by a person who said that he saw a very shameful and disturbing dream and that he was ashamed to reveal it because of its nature.

The Imaam asked him to write down the dream on a sheet of paper. He wrote that he had been away from home for three months. During his absence he dreamed that he has returned home, finding this wife asleep on her bed while two sheep with horns were engaged in battle near her bed.

The one injured the other. Because of this dream he has avoided approaching his wife and yet, by Allah, he loved her a great deal.

When the Imaam read this letter, he said to him not to leave his wife as she was a chaste and honourable woman. He explained the dream thus: “When she heard that you were returning home shortly, in fact you were almost home, she urgently sought for something with which to remove her public hair. Finding nothing she chose to use a scissors rather. In her haste, she inured herself causing a deep wound on that part of her body.

To confirm this, go straight to her and see for yourself.”

The man went straight to his wife expressing his desire to fulfils his need. She said: “No! Not until you explain to me why you had avoided me for seven months!” He gave his explanation regarding his dream and the interpretation given by the learned Imaam. Upon this she exclaimed: “The Imaam has spoken the truth” Then she took his hand and passed it over the cotton wool covering the wound. When he ws satisfied he went back to the Imaam to report his findings.

The Imaam praised and glorified Allah for having guided him to the correct interpretation of the dream.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

TRUE INCIDENT

this incident is related to a group of people living on the Island of Saqliyyah .

It is narrated that their king was bent on annihilating the Muslims.

For this, he prepared a powerful navy comprising of thousands of soldiers. At this point he saw a dream in which he saw himself mounted on an elephant while drums were beaten and trumpets were blown before him. When he awoke he summoned some of his clergymen and asked them to interpret the dream. They gave him the glad tiding of victory. He demanded proof from them for their interpretation.

The said that the elephant is the most powerful animal on land and mounting such a powerful animal means becoming the master of power and strength. And the beating of drums and blowings of trumpets are signs of happiness, ecstasy and victory. Also drums are only beaten in the presence of asking if there is some reason for happiness.

When the king heard this, he became both surprised and delighted. He then summoned some Jewish ulama and asked them for their interpretation. They also interpdreted the dream as a glad tiding of victory. He then called some Muslim ulamaa and demanded that they interpret the dream. They all pointed to an experienced aalim to respond to the king’s demand.

The aalim said to the king that he would interpret the dream only if he guaranteed their safety which he did.

The learned aalim interpreted the dream thus; “O king, I see no wisdom in your wanting to kill the Muslims and marching on them for this purpose. Please do not deploy your army for they will not return to you alive. They will be defeated and destroyed. And do not for one moment think that I give this interpretation because I am a Muslim”.

The king asked him for proof to which he replied that the Holy Book of Allah was the source for his proof. He quoted the verse: Have you not seen what your Lord had done to the people of the elephants. He recited the entire Soorah Feel.

The king said: “This is your proof regarding the elephants. What have you to say about the drums?” He recited the verse: And when the trumpet will be blowns, this will be a very hard day for the non-believers-not an easy one.

When the king heard this he became utterly shocked and perplexed since the shaikh’s explanation was rational and irrefutable.

To avoid embarrassment to himself he dismissed the sheikh and his colleagues saying that he would have believed him if he (the sheikh) were not a Muslim. But since he is a Muslim he is biased in his delivery of interpretation.

The Shaikh said: “You will soon find out for yourself, o king!”.

When the sheikh and his colleagues departed the king began to ponder deeply about what the sheikh had said. He became convinced and decided not to go ahead with his plans. When the clergy heard of this they approached him and urged him to go ahead with his plan. They reasoned with him not to believe the interpretation of the sheikh as he was a Muslim and a Muslim would obviously be opposed to king Muslims. They also sought his permission to kill the sheikh which he refused. They continued to incite him against the Muslim and urged him to go ahead with his plans. He had no choice but to accede. He deployed a huge army under the command of his son.

The two sides met in the middle of the sea.

For three days a fierce battle ensued between the Muslims and non-Muslims. One the third day the Christians army was defeated. Not a single person was spared. When the king came to learn about this, he called for the sheikh and admitted his folly before him. He then secretly accepted Islam at his hands and bestowed many of his favours on him.

It is said that he also learned the Holy Qur’aan by the Shaikh and this affair of the king became popular in Saqliyyah.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

TRUE STORY

It is reported that a person came to Imaam Muhammad bin Sireen (RA) and said: “O Imaam! I dreamt that I was proclaiming the athaan!” The Imaam interpreted the dream thus: “Your hands shall be amputated (through stealing)”. Then came another person who related a similar dream.

The Imaam interpreted his dream thus. : “You will proceed for Hajj.” The Imaam’s students were amazed at these two conflicting interpretation of two dreams which resembled each other in every respect. They asked of or an explanation. He said that he first made a careful study of the character of both the persons and saw signs of evil present in the first person and interpreted his dream accordingly in the light of this verse of the Holy Qur’aan : then a claimer proclaimed; O people of the caravan Surely you are thieves!. As for the second persons he saw signs of virtue and piety present in him and therefore, interpreted his dream in the light of the following verse of the Holy Book : And proclaim (O Ibraheem!) to the people about Hajj!

The narrator of this incident says: “Matters turned out exactly as the Imaam had interpreted.”

TRUE STORY

Imaam Ja’far (RA) had been asked about a person who had dreamt that he is eating clouds and there are many clouds before. He replied that the person had seen a very blessed dram: he will become a man of great learning and by virtue of this he will assume sublimity amongst the people and enjoy a reputation none other has enjoyed.

On another occasion the Imaam had been asked about another person who had seen that he was standing in the shade of a cloud. He replied:” “If this person is ill, he will be cured: if he is in debt, he will be absolved of his debt; if he is a destitute, Allah will make him wealthy; if he is oppressed, he will receive assistance. For, clouds, symbolize rahmah 9blessings) and anything shrouded by clouds is shrouded by rahmah. TRUE STORY

Aboo Ammaarah Attayyaan (RA) reported to us that he revealed a dream of his to Imaam Muhammad bin Sireen (RA) that it was as if he had seen a separ or lance in his hand.

The Imaam asked whether he had seen the point of the lance or not. He said no. Upon this he said: “Had you seen the point, a son would have been born to you. But now you will have female issues only.” He pondered for a moment, then said: “ In all, twelve daughters will be born to you”.

(After many years) it is reported from Muhammad bin Yahya that when he revealed the above incident to Abul Waleed (RA) the latter laughed saying: “I am the son of one of them. I have eleven maternal aunts and Aboo Ammaarah Attayyaan was my grandfather. May Allah shower His blessings upon him and us and all the Muslims.”... Islamic Dream Interpretation

TRUST IN GOD

To express one’s trust in God Almighty in a dream signifies the end of adversities and the achievement of one’s goals.

To proclaim one’s trust is God in a dream is an indication of true faith, recognition of God’s supremacy, cessation of adversities and victory over one’s enemy. Putting one’s trust in God Almighty in a dream also means repenting from sin. Otherwise, perhaps it may indicate the infallibility of one’s destiny, though the end result of one’s encounter with his adversities will prove him triumphant.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

TRUTH-OR-DARE

Generally, to dream about playing Truth-or-Dare symbolizes issues of self-acceptance. You need to work on liking yourself more, and presenting the same, honest front to everyone, instead of trying to act how different people expect you to. Some more specific meanings: If you were challenged to tell the Truth in your dream, you may be feeling guilty about something.

If someone else got a Truth challenge, especially if you doubt the truth of their answer in your dream, you are having suspicions about a particular person, relationship or situation in real life.
